Day 5 - Knutsford to Kirkby Lonsdale
Day 5 saw the Team depart Knutsford Tabley and head North for Kirkby Lonsdale, in the rain again!
They were waved off on their way by Cheshire ARVs!

All were in good spirits as they set off but this was short lived after Leggo sustained a bad knee injury and was forced to retire from the ride. All of us at the PFOA and I am sure others that have read the blogs and supported the Team are absolutely gutted for Leggo. He has put such a great effort in, and covered over 400 miles. On arrival home he visited his local casualty. One big bandage later he was limping out with a damaged ligament and cartilage.
The riders continued North in the rain, covered in all the muck that comes of the road! As they entered Lancaster they had another moment - this time it was Iestyn – the term head down in the saddle comes to mind when our Welshman had his head too far down, and did not see a stationary cherry picker van. Our boy from the valleys hit the cherry picker so hard he, along with his bike ended up in the said vehicle – it got worse! Much to the amazement of the rest of the Team the cherry picker moved off with Iestyn still in it! He duly scrambled out and rather unceremoniously ended up in a heap in the road. Karl wet himself, as did the rest of the team at the expense of Iestyn, and it must be said to the amusement of the public watching.

After a change of clothing they continued onwards – hill after hill, puddle after puddle. They eventually reached Kirkby Lonsdale where they met up with Jeremy Price our friend from Thomas Lowe Defence. The team also benefitted from a sports massage.
After lots of laughter at Iestyns expense, the Team retired for an early night in their own rooms at the Kirkby Lonsdale Wigwam site!
